I'll always remember the crowd reaction to the return of Dark Star on 12-31-81. You can't really hear it from the sbd, but there was a veritable roar asa Jerry and Phil ripped out the intro, sent chills down my spine.

That same run of shows also saw the return of Big Boss Man after about a 10 year absence, another great crowd energy moment.

Another unforgettable moment was the return of H>S>F at Compton Terrace 3-25-83, it was totally unexpected and the crowd just roared in approval and delight!!!

The date - February 27, 1994
The place - Oakland Colliseum
Coming out of a smokin' Other One, Jerry began to pick a familliar chord progression and little by little, the rest of the boys followed suit. "COSMIC CHARLIE!!!!!" Everyone went ape-fucking-shit. It was unreal for about ten seconds. My buddy and I high fived eachother and the couple next to me hugged and kissed. Then all of the sudden, "oh...Wharf Rat"
You can hear the crowd's groan of dissapointment loudly on the AUD recordings of that show.

I was there for the breakout of The Same Thing on 12/28/91 - I didn't know the significance of the event until I called 1-900-Run-Dead the next morning....

That was the first one I thought of. My first words to a buddy coming out of the show were "would of been a good show to dose"--immediately followed by lysergic chuckles from my well-dosed bud...
Also in 81--Seattle Center 8/14(?)/81 Might As Well 2nd set opener and Baby Blue encore. Again, long lines at the pay phones.
Veneta '82--Dupree's, Day Job, and West LA
But the Star on 12/31/78 was the one that really gave me chills...
